Improving the understanding of Antarctica and the Southern Ocean
The Australian Antarctic Program Partnership (AAPP) is an Australian Government funded initiative to better understand the role of the Antarctic region in the global climate system and the implications for marine ecosystems.
Australian Antarctic Program Partnership - AAPP
As a newly formed program, Studio Bacon was engaged to establish the brand identity of the AAPP, ensuring the values of AAPP and its partners were represented. The AAPP is made up of three core scientific themes that were represented in the brandmark design, through the use of concentric rings emanating from the Antarctic continent. These rings also depict the expanding insight and knowledge obtained through the research AAPP undertakes.
This broadening of knowledge on the Antarctic, marine ecosystems and global climate is further emphasised through the identities colour palette, emulating the environments AAPP investigates, from sea ice to the open ocean and its depths.

IPPC Report
Following establishing the brand identity for AAPP, we were asked to design the insights document into the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Working Group II (IPCC WGII) report, that was used to emphasise the impacts and threats of climate change in the Antarctic and Southern Ocean.
